Toyota is a big player in many developing countries. There is little charging infrastructure in places like the Philippines (where nearly every taxi is a Toyota). The push toward electric cars would mean making gas powered cars for some markets and electric for others. Since many emerginf markets rely on used cars from the US, the supply of gas powered used cars would be affected as well
