SpaceX Seeks Approval for 15,000 Satellites to Use MSS Spectrum

  The request is to saturate Low Earth Orbit and Very Low Earth Orbit with 15,000 new satellites and get us closer to a state of pervasive optical pollution.

  As of May 4th, 2025, there are 12,149 active satellites in all orbits.

  For the endeavor of more than doubling our satellite presence, a minority will receive notably worthwhile gains, while the effects of eroding our planet's night sky - this will be felt by ~all.
